• Weekend Travel Tips for the Holidays

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and for many of us, this means traveling back home for the holiday!  For others, this means taking a well-deserved vacation.  Since the Thanksgiving holiday usually only allows for a weekend getaway, we decided to name our "go-to" travel necessities we always have ready to pack.

    One: Layering basics.
Most of the time you can get an idea of what the weather will be like in the city you are traveling to, but often times, weather can be unpredictable!  This is why we love stocking up on basic pieces in neutral colors that are easy to layer to keep you looking fresh and feeling comfortable for the whole weekend.  We love turtlenecks this season!

Two: A versatile watch and bracelets
A timeless watch will last you for years, even decades, if you treat it right.  Watches add sophistication to any outfit while also providing a very functional purpose at the same time -- it doesn't get any better than that!  Layer your wrist with your watch and fun bracelets that will complement the watch without drowning it out in excessive accessories.

    Three: A chic carryall tote.

There are many versions of the classic carryall tote, but we like a simple design with minimal hardware.  This way, you can take it out from morning until night and never have to worry about changing bags to match your outfit.  It also works as the perfect carry-on on the plane!

    Bon voyage!

  • 5 Tips for Throwing the Perfect Fall Dinner Party

0 comments / Posted by Samantha Lee

As the air turns crisp, the leaves change colors, and we all starts getting into the fall spirit, there's hardly anything more exciting than having your friends and family over for a festive, cozy dinner party.  Whether you are a master chef or the champion of take-out, a self-proclaimed Martha Stewart or even if you are a little bit design-challenged, here are a few tips to help you throw the dinner party of the season.  Your friends won't be able to stop talking about it!

Be ready for your guests to arrive.  This means no last minute scrambling in the kitchen to find the corkscrew or the serving spoons once your guests have already arrived.  Be prepared and have everything set up ahead of time to reduce the stress on you, and so you can be a guest at your own party!

Timing is everything!  If you are preparing the night's feast, plan ahead of time how much time each dish will take to make so that nothing will be too hot or too cold, too early or too late, to the table.
Details count when you're throwing a dinner for your close friends and family.  Make cute personalized place cards for the dinner table, or take the extra time to add that golden touch to your napkins.  Whatever it is, it's the little things that count.  Your guests will never forget it!
Set the tone for your gathering.  If you are stressed, your guests will cue in on your vibe and feel stressed too.  Interact with your guests as much as possible, and set ambient music to relax the atmosphere.

Be festive with your decorations.  Now this does not mean you have to hang pumpkin posters up on the walls, but it does mean that you can go the extra mile and decorate your table with seasonal vegetables from the farmers' market or break out the fall linens.

Now it's your turn to make this fall dinner party a reality!  Follow these simple tips, and you will be the hostess of the season.  Your guests will be hoping for another invite!

  • Fall Outerwear Guide

0 comments / Posted by Samantha Lee

It's finally starting to feel more like fall up here in the Bay Area, and we couldn't be more excited to swap out our summer cardigans for something a little more substantial.  Capes, coats, and vests are all we can think about these days.  Here are some of our favorites:

The Cape: The quintessential fall look of sophistication.  With its minimalistic style, you can dress to the nines effortlessly.
    J. Crew Crepe Jacket
    Burberry Color Border Cape

The Coat: The staple everyone has in their closet.  Reinvent your look with a new coat this fall, or re-accessorize to bring an old coat back to life.

The Vest: With so many versions of the vest, it's hard to choose our favorite.  The puffer vest is great for casual on-the-go days, while the longline vest can even come with you to work.

Outerwear can be like jewelry.  It can completely change your look with one piece.  Go get your coats out now and see for yourself!

  • Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Summer to Fall

0 comments / Posted by Samantha Lee

Even though it might be hard to believe based on the heat we have been experiencing here in San Francisco, fall is just around the corner.  For some of us, fall means finally being able to order your favorite pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks, and for others it means returning home for Thanksgiving.  For us, we are all about fall fashion.  We love the sweaters, the boots, the scarves, the crisp fall air, and the bright sunny rays.

Fall doesn't have to mean going out and buying a whole new wardrobe because suddenly your summer clothes are irrelevant -- although this idea does sound quite nice...  Transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall can be easy with these simple tips!

    1. Layer tights under your summer dresses.  Easy enough, right?  Then comes the fun part: pair your look with some chic and cozy boots that will keep your legs warm even in the chilliest fall wind.

    2. Don't be afraid to keep wearing sandals.  Here in California, it's easy to wear sandals year round.  If you can bare your toes without the risk of hypothermia, we say go for it.

    3. Mix neutrals.  This one goes for any season, but for fall, you can still rock your light colored neutrals like white and cream for a streamlined, elegant look.

    4. Scarves!  There's not much more to it.  Opt for lightweight scarves that are still breathable and can be layered over neutral outfits for a pop of color to any outfit.

    5. Mix it up with colors.  Keep it fun on the bottom with bright colored pants to liven up the all-black palette that becomes synonymous with the cooler months.  Cooler months don't have to be boring!
